Recrystallization annealing

Recrystallization annealing removes the results of the heavy plastic deformation of highly shaped cold formed tools. The purpose of this treatment is to regenerate the crystals by re-forming the microstructure, without transformation of the phase. The recrystallization temperature for steels is between 400 and 700 °C. Durferrit salt baths AS 220, the nitrite-free AS 235, and Durferrit GS 230 are suitable for annealing between 250 and 550 °C. At temperatures between 500 and 700 °C, Durferrit GS 430 is used when a non-inert annealing is required. Annealing in a controlled atmosphere using Durferrit pit and chamber furnaces is a process which is also in common use.
